The Scarlino meat industry was founded in 1967 in Taurisano (a small town in the province of Lecce) by Giuseppe Carlino, also known as "Peppino", who had already been involved in poultry farming and slaughtering since 1965. Peppino, together with his sons Luigi and Antonio, urged the company to broaden its horizons, abandoning the traditional way of breeding in favour of processing and distribution of meat.
When “F.lli Scarlino Srl" was established in 1981 it had a substantial and continuous growth so as to become in a few years one of the leading meat industries in Italy.
The Scarlino family has carried out progressive research, reaching levels of high industrial specialization. The current slaughtering and meat processing plants located in Taurisano extend for over 16,000 square meters and have an optimal technical layout. Combined with the latest management techniques, a food safety management plan certified according to ISO 22000: 2005, IFS Standard and BRC Standard, and a functional, productive organisation; this ensures high quality standards for production, benefiting the end product and consumer.
Achieving this high specialisation has allowed the Scarlino Carni industry to carry out new production activities, such as the portioning of pork and beef into meals and the vacuum packaging of all meats.
These new sectors have become the flagship of the company and have allowed it to gain the support of large retailers. Furthermore, they have caused a change in the philosophy of the company itself which is no longer inspired by the intent to sell a product, but by the concept of offering a service, with the sole objective of satisfying the customer.
Today the strength of F.lli Scarlino Srl comes from their guarantee of offering a quality product: that meets the needs and expectations of its customers, in compliance with health and hygiene standards.
